3 Things
Here are 3 things that I am praying about for our church in 2019:
4 times to baptize We celebrate two ordinances, the Lord’s Supper and Baptism. And since we do the Lord’s Supper 4 times per year, it is on my heart that we should baptize at least the same number of times. I shared this with a prayer partner, and he felt good to join me in praying for this matter, and also felt that God may very well grant us many more than 4 times for baptism! Let us agree to love other generously and ongoing, invite to church those we know who need our Lord, and regularly encourage others to commit their lives to Jesus Christ. Laborers for the harvest
The Lord clearly directs us to specifically make this a prayer, Matthew 9:37-38, “Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send forth labourers into his harvest.” We should ask God to call believers into our church to serve the Kingdom. We need a couple who loves the Lord to work with our teens. We need children’s workers, and additional singers for the choir, and just about anybody who knows this the place of God’s calling for them and are willing to serve as needed!
No retirees this year!
It is wonderful when you can retire from your job. And the changes of life will inevitably call us to adjust lots of other matters of life. But you just can’t retire from serving the Lord! You may have to adjust your manner of service. But you are gifted. You love God and others. Therefore there is a place of need for you in this church. Your muscles may tire a little more easily, but guard your heart so it does not get tired! I love Galatians 6:9, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” You can do something. So do it well.
